Hey fam,
Sorry it’s been so long. I’m not the best at keeping in touch. Sometimes I lose sight of what I love. The last couple months were crazy with finals and all. I’m finally seddling down for a quiet summer in the bay. Anyways, shit has been popping on the music front. If you haven’t heard Eminem’s leaked album Recovery you should torrent that ish fast. Drake’s Thank Me Later can be found as well. I’m also excited for the new Stars album which is set to drop June 22.
All these albums have got me thinking about how short our generation’s attention span is. The new thing is definitely to find hot singles and spread them around. While this strategy definitely increases exposure and diversity I’m worried we’re only getting to know artists superficially. Sometimes we should just set aside an hour and pop in an album. Listen to the bad, the good, the hits, and the flops. Anyways, these are just thoughts – and you can bet here at seddled we’ll still be sharing our favorite jams as they come through.
Here are a few for the summer.
Mumford and Sons/ Little Lion Man
Mumford and Sons came out of the London folk scene in 2007. Their music is throaty and stringy and moving and honest. If you enjoy this song look for more off their debut album Sigh No More. I highly recommend The Cave. White Blank Page is also an emotional tour de force (I’ve always wanted to use that phrase).
Nas & Damian Marley feat. K’naan/ Africa Must Wake Up
Africa is an enchanting place. I need to get myself over there asap. My sister has just been traveling through Mozambique and South Africa for the past month and it all just sounds so stupendously epic. Anyways this song is from Distant Relatives, a collab effort from two significant artists of our generation, Nas and Damian Marley. It’s crazy how two sounds can build on one another and result in something completely new. I would have loved to witness the give and take and learning that must have occurred in the studio between these two.
Thanks for your time. A new force is coming to seddled real soon. Keep checking back for that new new.
Don’t stress.
